Focus On Life - Week 2: Your Word

For week 2 of the Focus on Life challenge Sally asked us to focus a little on “our word” or “our resolution” for 2013, asking "What is the one word or resolution that is going to help you focus on your life this year, make you more confident in your abilities, make you happy?"

I'm not usually one for making resolutions, as whenever I do they tend to be lists of things I should do better, or things I should give up, things that at heart I know I should do but don't really want to do, and so I end up breaking them - and then feel guilty for it! But, having a word to focus on to remind me of what's important in life is a lot more positive. I said in my first post this year that I'm going to try and be a bit more relaxed this year, so that's the word I'm going to focus on.

Last Sunday was the perfect relaxing day. A family tea to celebrate Jamie's second birthday, with a very excited little boy who has just realised that the wrapping paper and boxes that are so fun to play with contain other things that are just as much, if not more, fun!

  1. Part of being a woman, wife, mother, is learning to relax and enjoy when need be. We all struggle with that. Great post.

  7. Jamie is already 2?? Where does the time go? :-) What a great choice for 2013! I totally have a hard time with that one unless I'm given no choice BUT to relax....otherwise I get caught up in multi-tasking! I love how you added the text to your picture....that linen background is great!

  8. GREAT word! It is always hard to 'relax' when the kids are still quite young ... I felt like I was forever just chasing them around. But it is so fun to have days like this! I can remember my oldest's first Christmas where the wrapping paper was what she was after ... what was inside was incidental. I should have just given her a pile of wrapping and not stressed about what was inside!

  15. Hi Jo
You've touched on an important subject here. Finding that something which helps you to relax is key to keeping level-tempered throughout the day's many "challenges". Just leafing through my well-thumbed jewellery books for 10 mins after lunch does it for me!
    Love those cutie photos...

  16. A beautiful word for the year! This word implies to me that you will focus on what is in front of you rather than rushing to the next. You will see the beauty surrounding you and immerse yourself in it, letting it wash over you like waves on the beach. Hold onto those cutie patooties! I wish you joy in the journey in 2013. Enjoy the day. Erin

  17. That looks like it was a wonderful day. I agree that it is so easy to stress over things that really don't matter in the long run. Finding a relaxing calm within is a challenge well worth it.
